Jack Nance, the star of
Eraserhead and many other of Lynch’s
movies, died in very mysterious circumstances in California in 1996. He claimed
to have been attacked outside a donut store by two young Hispanic men. His
friends noticed he had a bruise under his eye as he told them about the
incident over lunch. He later complained of a headache and returned to his home
where he died the following morning. The cause of death was recorded as
subdural hematoma caused by blunt-force trauma. A murder investigation was
launched which ultimately found no evidence to back up Nance’s story. To this
day the circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery.
