Children of the Corn 2009 - The strange version the Lifetime TV Network wanted to make

An interesting story features on the new Children of the Corn Trilogy Blu-ray from 88 Films. When director Donald P. Borchers was pitching the 2009 remake he received on offer from the Lifetime TV Network for $6 million. But... they had some notes. They wanted to lose the kids killing their parents story elements and drop the whole religion thing, stating that the kids can't be seen worshipping anything.
Naturally Borchers realised that they basically had taken the whole point of the story away so he sarcastically thanked them for their notes and said he'd accept the offer if he could just change the title to The Honeymoon Couple. Not quite getting the joke the executives at Lifetime said, "Well, if we change the title then what are we buying?"
The film ended up (with a lower budget) on the Syfy Channel and though it wasn't universally acclaimed it was, at least, more faithful to Stephen King's source material. I can't help but wonder what the movie would have ended up like if Borchers had accepted the Lifetime offer.
